Linux Commands

Going through some of the advanced commands, I kept running into compatibility issues between CentOS 6.x & CentOS 7. Although the differences were minor they did waste my time in configuring simple things like auto-starting applications and services. So here’s a list of commands that would benefit in administering application and services.

Auto Start Service on CentOS 6.x

$ sudo chkconfig --list httpd
$ sudo chkconfig --add redis
$ sudo chkconfig --add httpd
$ sudo chkconfig redis on
$ sudo chkconfig httpd on

Auto Start Service on CentOS 7.x

$ sudo systemctl status httpd
$ sudo chkconfig enable redis
$ sudo chkconfig enable httpd
